Self-worth over self-esteem

It is essential to know you have self-worth (internal) independent of things that might cause high self-esteem (external).

Self-worth is the deep internal belief (or knowing) of being good enough and worthy of love and belonging simply as you are.

On the other hand, self-esteem is the feeling of confidence and competence in more specific areas of your life.

You can have low self-worth but high self-esteem when it comes to athletic ability, strength in certain subjects in school, or being popular on social media. The problem with relying on self-esteem is that it’s based on external factors, such as successes and achievements, which are inconsistent. Therefore, you need to focus on self-worth over self-esteem.

Recognizing you are greater than all of those things empowers you and makes you more courageous and resilient.

Your strength lies in knowing that you are of value, loveable, and worthy of belonging no matter successes or failures you experience in school or life!
