20-20-20 rule

In high school and college, you can spend many hours per day looking at screens, whether it’s a computer or laptop screen, smartphone, television, or other digital devices. Unfortunately, looking at screens too much can lead to eye strain, making you feel physically tired and unable to concentrate. The good news is the 20-20-20 rule may help!

20-20-20 Rule -(1) Every 20 minutes, (2) look away at something that is 20 feet away from you, (3) for a total of 20 seconds. Looking precisely 20 feet away isn’t necessary. You just want to focus on something far enough away from your screen to give your eyes the ability to rest.

You can set alarms on your phone to remind you to take breaks too. That and listen to your body. If you feel tired and unable to concentrate, look up and relax. Your physical fatigue might be visual fatigue, and a 20-second screen break can help!
